Francis Dobson, Vice President, Past President and Chairman.

Francis Dobson, 96, passed away on 4^th November.

Francis a Structural Engineer, joined the Association shortly after its formation. He served as Chairman from the mid 1960’s till 1999, becoming a VP and a term as President.

His professional skills aided him in designing exhibition layouts from the early days. From his home and under his direction, the Tuesday night gang met every week from the early seventies until Covid and they constructed many layouts for display culminating in the super layout for the International Model Railway Exhibition at Horticultural Halls in the early 90’s. Full use was made of his garden railway which featured both steam and electric operation.
