BIllingshurst Signal Box Re-Opening

The Signal Box from Billingshurst

Northward view of Billingshurst station, showing level crossing, signal box, footbridge and Platform 1 (Up side). Photographed on 7th July 2007.

When the Arun Valley line signalling was converted to colour lights and now controlled from Three Bridges, the signal box was removed and donated to Amberley Museum.

The restored box will be opened by Nicholas Owen, TV and radio presenter at 11am on Sunday 25th of March. We will also open the engine shed that has been built to house our standard gauge diesel locomotive BURT and some of our restored historic wagons.

G1MRA Members are welcome to visit us on this day. We will be steaming our 2 foot gauge Bagnall ‘Peter’ to run the narrow gauge passenger service.

Amberley Museum is located at New Barn Road, Amberley BN18 9LT

Free car parking is by the Southern Railway Amberley railway station and our entrance is a short walk down the old standard gauge line now a footpath. We are a dog friendly (on leads please) site.
